Position Overview:
A dynamic and fast-paced automotive group in Roanoke, VA is seeking a results-driven Automotive Controller to lead the financial operations of its dealership(s). This mid-level role is critical to ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting and providing actionable insights that support operational success. The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting experience in the automotive sector, along with excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting: Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal policies and manufacturer guidelines.
Financial Planning & Analysis: Work closely with dealership management to evaluate performance, improve profitability, and develop forward-looking financial strategies.
Expense Management: Monitor operating expenses, identify opportunities for cost savings, and coach team members on financial discipline.
Accounting Operations: Oversee day-to-day accounting processes, including sales, purchases, receivables, and payables, in line with GAAP.
Tax Compliance: Manage all tax filings and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.
Cash Flow Management: Maintain systems to monitor and optimize cash flow, ensuring the financial health of the dealership.
Experience & Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in an automotive dealership accounting role.
Strong understanding of GAAP, financial regulations, and dealership best practices.
Proficiency in accounting software (CDK experience highly preferred) and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Highly organized and detail-oriented with a strong sense of accountability.
