Description Primary Purpose Assists in the ground's maintenance, cleaning, and upkeep, of city parks, greenway areas, City-owned landscaped areas, and the grounds surrounding municipal facilities including park restrooms.
Supervision Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Parks Maintenance Superintendent and general daily supervision of the Lead Park & Grounds Worker.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities - Works as a member of a crew to perform the general beautification, cleaning, upkeep, and maintenance of city parks, greenway areas, city owned landscaped areas, and the grounds surrounding municipal buildings inclusive of trimming, mowing, tree care, landscaping, trash removal, cleaning etc.
- Assists Parks and Recreation Department during times of special events.
- Operates weed eaters and other equipment in a manner consistent with safety principles.
- Maintains, cleans, and repairs weed trimmers and other equipment to keep them in good working order.
- Deals effectively and courteously with fellow employees and the public.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Important Duties - Maintains appropriate supplies for assigned area.
- Maintains neat and orderly work area.
Minimum Qualifications Knowledge, Skills & Abilities General knowledge of landscaping, grass, and tree care. Organizational/planning skills. Verbal and written communication skills. Basic Computer skills. Ability to troubleshoot, modify, and maintain maintenance equipment. Must be able to memorize and retain information. Must have good time management skills. Must have good cognitive and analytical skills. Must be able to handle stressful situations. Must be able to quickly judge and assess situations. Must be able to make decisions under pressure in areas of responsibility. Must possess manual ability to operate a computer.

Special Requirements - Must be at least 16 years of age.
Miscellaneous Requirements - May be required to work a variety of shifts including nights, weekends, or holidays.
- Must be a dependable person due to the small size of the work force.
- May be subject to random substance abuse testing.
Supplemental Information Physical Demands Performs bending, squatting, crawling, twisting, kneeling, and reaching to ground level and overhead; Must be able to reach, grip and hold; Must be able to lift 50 pounds above their head; Must be able to push, pull and carry 60 pounds.
